Record breaking June for Suzuki as sales climb
Suzuki continues to attract record sales of its new cars and SUVs in New Zealand with 2021 heading for the highest ever customer demand.
Confirmed registrations for Suzuki in June reached a record level following the best-ever sales for May.
Figures released by the Motor Industry Association show 835 new Suzuki vehicle registrations. This was easily the best month year to date and more than 8 percent ahead of a record May.
Suzuki was the fourth best selling passenger and SUV marque in June with a market penetration of 8.1 percent. This compared with a fifth ranking for calendar year 2020 and a 7.3 percent share of all new cars and SUVs. For 2021 year to date sales Suzuki also has 7.4 per cent of total new car and SUV sales.
Once again the ever-popular Swift was the top selling Suzuki with sales of almost 300 units for June. A long time light car class leader, the Swift hatchback is offered in six variants, including two hybrid models and a performance oriented turbocharged Sport.
The independent motoring website Driven recently acclaimed the Swift is the closest thing New Zealand has to a classless car, appealing to virtually every demographic and age group.
Suzuki’s trendy and practical four-wheel-drive Jimny continued its record-breaking run with 167 sales for June, the best sales month year to date. There is continued high demand for the compact Jimny with its distinctive looks, serious off-road capability and ease of use in both urban and rural locations.
Achieving its best month in June for the first half of this year the versatile Vitara was third best seller for the make with registrations of 146. The flagship Vitara Turbo was the most popular variantoffering strong performance levels and excellent fuel efficiency. The model is also available with AWD option which rated as the NZ 4WD Magazine’s Compact 4WD of the Year in 2020.
The Suzuki Baleno five door hatchback in 1.4 litre or 1.0 litre BoosterJet Turbo RS forms is also selling at record levels with May being an all-time high for the model.
Suzuki is the eighth largest car brand in the world and with its strong focus on the development of innovative compact cars is set to play a major part in the future of the automotive industry.
