Highly Specified Suzuki Swift Commands More Awards
Advances in equipment and features have heightened attention to the Swift as it continues to garner more international accolades.
The Swift Hybrid has recently won more awards in Australia, Britain and Japan. These follow two New Zealand awards with the AA Driven New Zealand Passenger Car of the Year and NZ Company Vehicle magazine’s Compact Small Business Car of the Year.
On the new fourth generation Swift, NZ Company Vehicle was impressed with Swift’s lively and engaging drive, responsive handling and a suite of driver assistance technologies.
“Now entering its fourth generation, the all-new Swift continues to deliver a unique blend of style, performance, and practicality, appealing to a wide array of consumers.”
“The vehicle’s mild hybrid system ensures commendable fuel efficiency, with an impressive consumption rate of just 4L/100km and CO2 emissions between 91-97g/km. These figures highlight Suzuki’s dedication to producing environmentally friendly and cost-effective vehicles for everyday use.”
Damien O’Carroll from Driven Car Guide said, “Frugal, fun and still as cute as a button, the 2024 Suzuki Swift keeps the Swift love alive and well by being a convincingly excellent package at a budget price.”
In Australia Money Magazine’s “Best of Best” awards the latest fourth generation Swift was acclaimed best value small car for 2025. Meanwhile the Royal Automobile Club Queensland and Western Australia RAC named the Swift the top overall performer with the lowest running costs for motorists driving 15,000 kilometres a year over a five-year period.
In Britain the Swift Hybrid was declared the Best Small Car in 2025 in the UK Car of the Year (COTY) awards. Strong kerb appeal, good value, economy and an unbeatable combination of reliability and efficiency were acclaimed for the Suzuki model.
Swift Generation 4 also won the 2025 RJC Car of the Year in Japan - the fourth time a Swift model has trophied this achievement.
“We have seen a significant generational increase in the safety features included in our fourth generation Swift as we have moved to an upgraded Dual Sensor Brake Support (DSBSII),” said Gary Collins, Executive General Manager Automobiles for Suzuki New Zealand.
This more comprehensive package compared to the third generation Swift incorporates no fewer than ten safety additions. The car now boasts autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, lane keep assist, lane departure warning and prevention, weaving alert, headlamp high beam assist, adaptive cruise control, rear parking sensors, blind spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert.
The Swift continues to dominate small car sales in New Zealand. In year to date statistics from the Motor Industry Association the Swift is a clear leader in the light car segment. The Swift has a commanding 38 percent of this class while its nearest rival has a 23 percent share.
Several variations in the lineup make it easy to choose the ideal Swift in New Zealand, with recommended retail pricing starting from $24,990 plus on-road costs for the outgoing Generation 3 GL automatic while the Generation 4 lineup, all with the 1.2 Smart Hybrid 12V ISG, starts at $25,990.
Gary Collins said the Swift had built a long history of providing Kiwi customers with low emission levels, fuel efficiency, performance, and affordability, and this was further reflected in the latest lineup.
“The Swift strikes the right balance between good value and reliability, offering refreshing simplicity and accessibility for a wide range of drivers.”
